Subject: Needs Guidance for an Engineer (Computer Science)

Question: I am an engineering student(Computer Science) studying in one of the numerous Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu. I am basically interested in Networking Technologies and I want to pursue a career in that field. Here at my college, campus recruitment are not available as it is in well established Engineering Colleges. There has been no history of successful students from our college from the year of commencement(6 years ago). I am terribly confused as I have no guidance to achieve my goal after the completion of the course.
Please give me some guidelines that will enhance my skill sets and which help's me while I am hunting for a job in the chosen field. I am eagerly waiting for your advice regarding this.

Answer: I can well understand your situation. I know you must be under a lot of stress.
Please take the following suggestion seriously:
Campus placement is not easy. You need to form a group of students and take permission from your college to approach the Industry. Make a good presentation. Emphasize on Industry Projects, course curriculum, faculty, seriousness of students in studies, extra curricular activities etc. All these matter for a new entrant. Go and meet H.R. people in industry and invite them for lectures in your college. Woo them to come for campus recruitment. These matter for a new entrant.
