Subject: What should I do for job satisfaction?
Date: 20-Oct-2002
Question: size="-1">Dear Sir/Madam,
I have done my B.E. from Blore (completed in 1999). I was an average student. After my studies I worked for 1.5 years in DRDO on contract. Their was working on cad packages. After that I got a job in a private company(also on contract) in Baroda. After one year I have got myself confirmed in the company. My problem is that I came to work in the company a year before because I wanted to gain experience in Pro-e(cad package). But I was not able to work on that, and due to some reasons I had to work on AUTOCAD(like a draftsman) for a year. Even though I have been confirmed in the company and I am getting good salary, I am not getting satisfaction with the work. Also now they have put me some other unrelated field(not cad). I am in a situation where I am not able to leave the company right now. Because these one year in the company I have no experience to show. Now I am frustrated, and think always in the negative. Due to this reason I am not able to mingle with colleagues and others. I am having irritating behavior. Kindly give me advice on what I should do. Thank you.
Answer: You are showing signs of anxiety and this will only do harm to you. In fact, it may be this behavior that may have had you shifted out of the CAD group. I suggest the following:

Have a good open chat with some friends and take a frank feed back about you. Meet a professional counselor if you find that you are branded as 'irritative'. Many times one feels one is very good at some thing and wants to work in that field, while others may have either interpersonal issues or talent issues. In such situations, it is more likely that one is wrong and rest of the world is right. Some thing not easy to accept. A combination of help from friends and professional counselors will help your problem.
